How do I import a PDF into Figma?
We all know that Figma is one of the best user-friendly design software out there. It allows you to create, collaborate and share designs with ease. But does Figma let you export PDF files? Yes, it does. But how about the other way around?
How Do I Import a PDF Into Figma?
You cannot import a PDF file back into Figma.
Your only alternative is to use an online conversion tool, like magicul for example to get your files converted from PDF to FIG. Unfortunately they charge about $100 per conversion which is probably not worth it for most of the people.
Another alternative would be to try and open your PDF in a software like Adobe Illustrator and from there try to export it as SVG. Then take the SVG and open it in Figma.
Most layers and fonts will be recognized but you might run into issues when it comes to borders, shadows and other effects.
At the moment these are the only options that I know of, and none are ideal but if you have enough time to spend you can get at least most of the components into Figma as SVGs.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Figma does allow you to export PDF files, but it's not as straightforward when it comes to importing them back in. You'll need to use an online converter such as Magicul to convert PDFs to .FIG files in order to work with them in Figma. This can be quite costly if you're dealing with a lot of PDFs, but it's the only way to get the job done.
