How do I share Figma with Developers?
If you're done with your design and you're looking to get your files from Figma to your frontend developer or to your client you're probably wondering what's the best way to share it and in what format.
In this short post I will teach you what I personally do as a freelance designer. It's all subjective of course but it will at least help you get a general idea.
How do I share Figma with Developers?
Generally with clients who need UI/UX design I send them the prototype link which they can use to review and send me feedback until I polish the pages so that they're finished.
Once I'm done I send to the client the figma file with the font I use (if it's not a custom font or google font).
If I have to send it to a developer you could just invite him to the project so he can export the layers and icons by himself in the format he needs.
Be sure to give the proper rights when you share the link to your developer. You can either chose to give view access or edit access. Your developer might need to move layers a bit, so ideally he would need edit access.
Conclusion
To summarize, the best way to share a figma design with your developer is to invite him to the file and he can export his layers by himself and use it to code the actual site.
