How do I make Components in Figma?
Components are a great tool in Figma if you're working on a larger projects or if you have many repetitive pages or layers. What components do is pretty much create a layout which you can paste in more places and if later on you want to make changes to - you only need to edit the component and all the other layers will change automatically.
How do I make Components in Figma?
Follow this short video to understand the basics of how component work in Figma:
The first step is you have to select the group of layers and right click -> Create component. Or you can use the shortkeys CTRL + ALT + K
Once you have your component set up all you have to do is duplicate it and use it on the rest of your page. Move it around and place it wherever you want, the position will not change.
If at some point you want to make edits to all the components just go to the original one, double click on it and start editing. Maybe you want to add more layers, or to change the colors, or font sizes. As long as you're editing the original layers - all the other layers will mirror it.
On the other hand if you want for example to only make changes to a specific component just double click on it and edit it the same exact way. The components will only mirror the original group.
In short - components are used when there is a lot of repeating content. To create a component just select the group of layers and right click -> Create component.
After that just duplicate it and place it on different sections. The original component will mirror the rest of the duplicates no matter what changes you make (except repositioning the group - only individual layer repositions will be mirrored).
