When it comes to web development, the front-end languages are the ones used to create the visuals of a website. These languages are HTML, CSS and JavaScript. HTML makes up the structure of a webpage, CSS is for styling, and JavaScript is for interactivity. All three of these languages are necessary to make a website look and feel complete.

The back-end languages are the ones that actually make the website functional. These languages are usually server-side languages and can be used to process data inputted by a user and create a response. Popular back-end languages are PHP, Python, Ruby and Java.

Does Figma Generate Code?

Figma is a popular design tool used to create mockups and prototypes of websites. While you can export HTML and CSS code from Figma, it's relatively useless because none of the layers are responsive so they will have to get recoded properly from scratch.

So, really you cannot generate a functional code for your designs in Figma. You will have to look for a developer to implement your layouts with actual code and make everything functional.

Knowing what coding languages are used to build websites is essential to creating a functioning site. Most websites are built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and one of the popular back-end languages like PHP, Python, Ruby or Java. Figma is not able to generate code that is ready to be used on a website, so it has to be coded by an actual developer.
