You can't blend photos in Canva. While you can drop opacity of layers and images - canva doesn't have gradients. This means you can only make your images slightly transparent. You cannot fade out an edge for example. 

If you want to combine images you could try to use the background removal tool (which is a premium tool, so you'll need a pro account) on both of them and after that just try to place them on top of a background image. 

But really there's no good way to do it and if you're looking to create nice looking blends you're better off with Photoshop or a software that's more complex.
