Does Figma replace sketch?
There’s no question that Figma has quickly become the preferred design tool for many creative professionals. It is widely regarded as a superior alternative to Sketch, providing a wide range of features and capabilities that make it easier to collaborate and create designs with greater efficiency.
Figma has an intuitive interface with drag-and-drop tools, as well as a canvas with infinite artboard size options allowing designers to consitently work on larger projects without hindrance.
The cloud based program also makes collaboration easy, enabling multiple designers to work on the same project without the need for constant file transfers or the worry of working out of sync.
However, there are still some web and UI/UX designers who continue to prefer using Sketch over Figma due to its long-established user community and core toolset.
It still offers some features that Figma doesn’t have yet, such as Auto Save and version control which allows a designer to go back in time and access earlier versions of their work without having to manually save each version separately.
And prioritizes vector editing over bitmap editing which means Sketch is great for illustrations and complex shapes where accuracy is key.
Additionally, some highly experienced UX/UI professionals prefer Sketch since they already know how it works like the back of their hand.
Does Figma replace sketch?
In short, while many professional designers now use Figma due to its powerful collaborative ways and simplicity in design creation - Sketch is still used by those who favour its already established user base, familiarity and advance vector editing capabilities specifically tailored towards UI/UX designs.
